Amy Walters
Amy Walters Arriving from Texas 21 years ago, Amy was sad to leave the Austin area, but brought her dreams of living in a city as cool as Austin with her. Deciding to do her part, Amy opened up The Electric Owl in 2010 and hasn't looked back! She believes that once you walk through the doors of her salon you will be hard pressed to go anywhere else. The Owl displays Amy's obsession with music and hatch prints, and it's laid back cool indie vibe is instantly welcoming.
Amy has been a stylist for 26 years and a salon owner for 14, and has attended the Redken Exchange and the Vidal Sassoon Academy as well as countless other hands on trainings and master classes. Her area of expertise is color application & formulation and is hyper focused on the believability & beauty of hair color. She also has a lot of experience with curly hair styles.
Amy's clientele is as varied and diverse as her range of interests! The woman behind the chair is also a fine jewelry artist, mixed media artist (One Wing Creations is her side gig) as well as a knitter, kayaker, kombucha brewer, hiking enthusiast and an avid music lover.
Whether you are wanting face framing highlights, seamless grey coverage, a natural look, wash and go hair, or something crazy edgy, her arsenal of knowledge and expertise in color and cutting will guarantee results.
Nick Biggs
Nick joined the Owl in December of 2015 and we couldn't be more proud to have his awesome talents in showcased here! Having a keen eye and major love for all things vintage / pin-up inspired, Nick has proved himself to be a master all barbering techniques. In addition to his cosmetology license, Nick has also just completed his barber's training as well! According to Reddit, Nick is THE guy to go to for a beard trim in the E'ville area.
Never fear, his mastery of men's styling doesn't mean he isn't great with the ladies! Nick's specialties include his fearlessness in fashion color application, doing some of the most creative and envelope-pushing color designs in the tri-state. When he's not painting your mom's hair hot pink or color melting, or tightening up a hairline, you can probably find Nick cooking up some delicious grub, or attending any number of Rockabilly events, styling competitions, or tattoo exhibitions. We think Nick is a super cool guy, and you will too!
Kiana Lee
From Santa Claus, Indiana Kiana graduated from the salon professional academy in 2020 and at the Owl for almost 2 years. She assisted Amy for a year & is working full time on building her clientele She is trained in expert color application, fantasy color application, textured styles & blowouts. Kiana loves music, traveling, drawing, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Brittany Braunecker
Brittany is an Evansville native and a graduate of the Salon Professional Academy. She is our newest stylist but has worked behind the chair for the last 1.5 years and is currently building her clientele. Are you looking to find your edge? Look no further, as Brittany is an expert at fantasy color application, various cutting techniques, and has recently started doing extensions to her repertoire. When she's not slaying behind the chair, She's hangin with her family, or you may catch her belting out a tune- she's actually a classically trained vocalist who has a bachelor's of music from Indiana State! We are thrilled to have her as part of the team and you will be thrilled with your hair and your experience when you book with her.
Derrik "Hitch" Shearin
Derrik is our newest barber on staff but certainly no stranger to barber techniques...he will up your groom game with a precision cut and can also take your beard from scraggly / ho-hum to clipped and shaped in record time! Currently he's in the shop on Monday's and Tuesdays and is also willing / able to take walk-ins on those days from 10-3!
When he's not behind the chair, You can find him either hanging with his two handsome kiddos or trying out that next hot spot to eat- he's self professed foodie, as well as an avid video game enthusiast.
